No one condones alcohol abuse, least of all the brewing industry, nor would anyone deny that alcohol is problematic for some individuals. Yet despite the majority of consumers drinking responsibly, there are numerous interest groups intent on demonising drinking culture. UC Davis professor Charlie Bamforth surveys the neo-prohibitionist movement.
