Bühler to concentrate main malting activities at single site

The Bühler Technology Group is to consolidate its main malting activities on a single site.

The malting activities - currently split across two sites, at Braunschweig and Beilngries in Germany - will be based at the grain logistics business unit at Beilngries from 1 January 2013.

This will, said Bühler, 'enable technical know-how to be focused, processes to be fine-tuned, and the number of interfaces to be reduced'.

Bühler also hopes that the consolidation will leave it better-placed to meet ongoing challenges in the market.

All Braunschweig staff affected by the move will be offered work at the Beilngries site, some 500km away.

About Bühler

Process technology expert Bühler employs 8,800 people in more than 140 countries. Turnover for the fiscal year 2011 was CHF 2.13 billion (£1.43 billion).
