Brandão: first Portugese EBC head

Takes over at Brau Beviale from Dr Stefan Lustig

The European Brewery Convention has a new president.

Tiago M Brandão will be taking the top chair at the EBC in a ceremony during Brau Beviale. Brandão is human resources director for Unicer Bedibas, and was previously R&D and innovation director for the same company.

His educational background includes an MSc from De Montfort University (Leicester, UK) as well as a Brewing Engineer and Brewmaster’s degree from the Scandinavian School of Brewing.

Brandão becomes the first Portuguese EBC president in the 68 year history of the organisation, and was instrumental in making this year’s Congress in Porto a success. He lives and works in Porto and is married with two daughters.

He takes over from Dr Stefan Lustig, who’s the chief operating officer of Brau Holding International and a board member of Paulaner Brewery Munich.

The change-over from Dr. Stefan Lustig to Tiago M. Brandão as EBC President will be marked by a photo opportunity and a jointly raised glass of beer in the company of members of the EBC Executive Committee. This is to take place at the stand of the Bavarian Brewers’ Federation (Bayerischer Brauer-Bund) on 11 November, from 17h30 to 18h00 in Hall 1-232, at Brau-Beviale in Nuremberg.
