Pollaers, a member of Diageo’s executive committee who most recently filled the role of the firm’s president for the Asia-Pacific region, will take over the helm of Carlton and United Breweries on April 7th. “I’m excited to welcome someone of John’s calibre to the executive leadership team,” said Foster’s Group chief executive Ian Johnston. “John is well known and respected in the Australian market and has a proven track record in successfully leading and growing businesses across multiple countries, channels and brands.” Pollears, a former officer in the Royal Australian Navy, started his career with Diageo as business development manager for the firm back in 1990 and went on to become finance director for Diageo’s British subsidiary. He holds an MBA from Macquarie University and INSEAD, France and a degree in electrical engineering and computer science from the University of New South Wales.
