Mashing-in, cleaning solutions expected

Company to roll out energy-efficient products

Pursuit Dynamics, the developer and purveyor of an innovative wort heating system, is reenergising its brewing industry efforts by reorganising the business and launching new products.

A business unit, PDX Brewing, has been created. Pursuit Dynamics CEO Roel Pieper will head the unit until a new leader is appointed, a development expected in the next few months.

PDX Brewing plans to launch additional products alongside its PDX Wort Heater: a mashing-in product based on the company’s expertise in the corn-to-ethanol market; and solutions for cleaning and disinfection created from experience gained in military and civil defence decontamination.

Pieper commented, “Following the lines-of-business strategy outlines at our year-end results in November, we have decided to move back into the brewing industry as we believe this area offers opportunities to generate value for our customers, which will add significant value for our shareholders.”

British regional Shepherd Neame has two PDX Wort Heaters in use. In past the brewer has told Brewers’ Guardian that PDX technology has slashed in half its annual kettle energy costs.

The PDX Wort Heater may be nearing a commercial breakthrough: London’s Financial Times reported in February market rumours that Heineken is close to purchasing the technology.

Shares of Pursuit Dynamics have performed strongly of late, up a third to just over 200 pence a share at the close of market today. The company, based in Huntingdon in the United Kingdom, is listed on the London Stock Exchange’s AIM international market for smaller growing companies.
