The EBC LOC on stage in Glasgow

Organisers meet in Glasgow

The local organising committee for the next EBC Congress gathered for the first time in the host city, Glasgow, last month, to discuss plans for the forthcoming event. The 33rd Congress of the European Brewing Convention is scheduled for 22nd-26th May 2011.

“Preparations are underway and things are shaping up nicely,” said EBC executive officer John Brauer. “We expect another world class congress.”

Amongst the LOC members are Jim Ryan of Tennent’s Brewery, representing the larger brewers; Hilary Jones of West Brewery representing regional and smaller brewers; and Chris McComb of Siemens UK as the industry supplier liaison.

The brewing community’s first opportunity to participate in EBC comes later this year, when the congress will welcome presentation abstracts and advance delegate registration. Details will be posted on the website www.ebc2011glasgow.org

EBC is the scientific and technological arm of the Brewers of Europe. As was the case with the 32nd Congress in Hamburg, EBC is working with Interplan meeting and event management to stage the Glasgow Congress.
