'Brewed by ladies for ladies'

Mississippi released for Cask Ale Week

As cask ale week – an event aimed at promoting Britan’s so-called 'national' drink – continues, Wadworth is hoping to catch the eyes, and taste buds, of the ladies.

The Wiltshire brewer has launched Mississippi, a 4.3% beer “brewed by ladies for ladies” using less hop bitterness and hints of strawberries and raspberries, apparently to appeal to the female palate.

“It was a challenge creating the beer, but it’s something that Wadworth has never tried before and we were more than happy to take on the challenge,” said Wadworth’s Su Stafford, one third of the all-female team that devised the brew.

Wadworth describes the brew as a clean, refreshing golden beer that is best served chilled. Full bodied yet easy drinking, the beer is best paired with dark chocolate, fresh fruit or fruit sorbet.

The limited edition ale will be showcased in London on Thursday as part of FemALE day, an event aimed at promoting beer to female drinkers as part of Cask Ale Week.
