'Goolie tingling' Carlton Draught

Carlton indecisive on risqué beer ad

Australia’s Carlton &  United Breweries (CUB) has pulled a beer ad previously deemed too risqué for TV from the web.

The ad refers to a drinker experiencing the ‘Carlton Draught tingle’ in his ‘man plums’. It makes further reference to ‘goolies’.

Plans to air the ad on TV were reportedly shelved in February after senior executives at CUB deemed it too close to the bone.

But last week CUB posted it on its website, anyexcuse.com.au, only to pull it off days later. The site is no longer operating.

See the ad below:

“The ad campaign is finished. We have nothing further to say,” CUB told the Sydney Morning Herald.

The paper reported Carlton Draught marketers had admitted a “lapse in judgement” and CUB bosses had stepped in to finish the campaign for good.

However the ad could still prove successful as a viral marketing campaign, having been posted on youtube.

No one was available for comment at Foster’s-owned CUB on Monday morning, GMT.
